Multi-Information Switch Test/Replacement

NOTE: SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ) and precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before repairing or servicing.
  1. Remove the lid (A) from the steering wheel.

  2. Disconnect the 6P connector (B) from the multi-information switch.
  3. Remove the three screws, then remove the multi-information switch.
  4. Measure the resistance between the multi-information switch 6P connector terminals No. 3 and No. 4 in each switch position according to the table.

    RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

    Position Resistance
      About 33 Ω
    SEL/RESET About 1, 043 Ω
      About 363 Ω
  5. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the switch. If the switch is OK, but the system does not operate, check for an open in the wire between the switch and the cable reel.
  6. Install the switch in the reverse order of removal.
