DTC U0151: Gauge Control Module Lost Communication With SRS Unit
NOTE:
- SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ) and precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before doing repairs or servicing.
- If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A (see TROUBLESHOOTING - B-CAN SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS TEST MODE A ).
- Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).
- Wait for at least 6 seconds.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC U0151 indicated?
YES -Go to step 5.
NO -Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.
- Check for SRS DTCs with the HDS (see
GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION
).
Are any DTCs indicated?
YES -Go to the INDICATED DTC'S TROUBLESHOOTING , then recheck.
NO -Go to step 6.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure (see DISCONNECTION , then wait at least 3 minutes.
- Disconnect the gauge control module 32P connector.
- Disconnect SRS unit connector A (39P).
- Check for continuity between gauge control module 32P connector terminal No. 19 and No. 20 and SRS unit connector A (39P) terminal No. 6 and No. 7 respectively.Fig 1: Checking Continuity Between Gauge Control Module 32P Connector Terminal No. 19 And No. 20 And SRS Unit Connector A (39P) Terminal No. 6 And No. 7

*: Wire color may be substituted for SRS circuits
Is there continuity?
YES - Substitute a known-good SRS unit, and recheck. If the indication goes away, replace the original SRS unit (see SRS UNIT REPLACEMENT . If the DTC is still present, Replace the gauge control module (see GAUGE CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT ).
NO - Repair an open or poor connection in the wire between the SRS unit and the gauge control module.
