Multi-Information Switch Test/Replacement

NOTE: SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ), and precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before doing repairs or servicing.

Remove the driver's airbag assembly (see DRIVER'S AIRBAG REPLACEMENT ).
Disconnect the cable reel subharness 20P connector (A) from the cable reel.

Measure the resistance between cable reel subharness 20P connector terminals No. 5 and No. 6 in each switch position according to the table.

Position	Resistance
↑	About 33 Ω
SEL/RESET	About 1, 043 Ω
↓	About 363 Ω

Without cruise control: if the resistance is not as specified, replace the switch (see STEERING WHEEL DISASSEMBLY/REASSEMBLY ). If the switch is OK, but the system does not operate, check for the cable reel.
With cruise control: if the resistance is not as specified, go to step 5. If the check is OK, but the system does not operate, check for the cable reel.
Remove the multi-information switch (A) (see STEERING WHEEL DISASSEMBLY/REASSEMBLY ).

Measure the resistance between multi-information switch 6P connector (B) terminals No. 2 and No. 5 in each switch position according to the table.

Position	Resistance
↑	About 33 Ω
SEL/RESET	About 1, 043 Ω
↓	About 363 Ω

If the resistance is not as specified, replace the switch. If the switch is OK, but the system does not operate, check for an open in the wire between the switch and the cable reel.
