DTC B0052-13: Open Or Increased Resistance In The Front Passenger's Seat Belt Buckle Switch (2014 2015)
NOTE:
- BEFORE DOING THIS TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURE, FIND OUT IF THE VEHICLE WAS IN A COLLISION. IF SO, VERIFY THAT ALL THE REQUIRED COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED WITH NEW COMPONENTS, OF THE CORRECT PART NUMBER, AND THAT THEY WERE PROPERLY INSTALLED .
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES and GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION .
- Before replacing the SRS unit, check the SRS unit software version with the HDS. If the software version is not the latest, update the SRS unit software , and retest.
- When troubleshooting, do not disconnect SRS unit connector B (39P) from the SRS unit.

DTC (SRS)
- Problem verification
- 1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds. Buckle and unbuckle the front passenger's seat belt several times.
- 3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B0052-13 Open or increased resistance in the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch Is DTC B0052-13 indicated?
YES
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. GO TO TROUBLESHOOTING INTERMITTENT FAILURES . If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
- SRS unit check
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.
Terminal A SRS UNIT CONNECTOR B (39P) NO. 16 Terminal B Body ground - 3. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- 4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
- 5. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B0052-11: Short or decreased resistance in the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch B0052-2B: Short to another wire harness in the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch Is DTC B0052-11 or B0052-2B indicated?
YES (Without power seat)
Go to step 3.
YES (With power seat)
Go to step 5.
NO
Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector B (39P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, REPLACE THE SRS UNIT . If the DTC does not clear, replace the right side wire harness.
- Open wire check (Without power seat) (FRBC line)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Remove the jumper wire from SRS unit connector B (39P).
- 3. Disconnect the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (A) on the right side wire harness.
- 4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 5. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (on the right side wire harness): disconnected Test circuit FRBC Test point 1 Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 1 (on the right side wire harness) Test point 2 Body ground Is there 10 V or more?
YES
The FRBC wire is OK. Go to step 4.
NO
Open in the right side wire harness; replace the right side wire harness, then clear the DTC.
- Open wire check (Without power seat) (GND line)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (on the right side wire harness): disconnected Test circuit GND Test point 1 Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 2 (BLK) (on the right side wire harness) Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
The GND wire is OK. Faulty front passenger's seat belt buckle switch; REPLACE THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT BELT BUCKLE ASSEMBLY , then clear the DTC.
NO
Open in the right side wire harness; check for a poor ground at G652. If the ground is OK, replace the right side wire harness, then clear the DTC.
- Open wire check (With power seat) (FRBC line)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Remove the jumper wire from SRS unit connector B (39P).
- 3. Disconnect the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (A) on the front passenger's seat wire harness.
- 4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 5. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (on the front passenger's seat wire harness): disconnected Test circuit FRBC Test point 1 Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 2 (on the front passenger's seat wire harness) Test point 2 Body ground Is there 10 V or more?
YES
The FRBC wire is OK. Go to step 6.
NO
Open in the right side wire harness or the front passenger's seat wire harness; replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.
- Open wire check (With power seat) (GND line)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (on the front passenger's seat wire harness): disconnected Test circuit GND Test point 1 Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 1 (BLK) (on the front passenger's seat wire harness) Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
The GND wire is OK. Faulty front passenger's seat belt buckle switch; REPLACE THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT BELT BUCKLE ASSEMBLY , then clear the DTC.
NO
Open in the right side wire harnessor the front passenger's seat wire harness; check for a poor ground at G652. If the ground is OK, replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.
