DTC B0050-13: Open Or Increased Resistance In The Driver's Seat Belt Buckle Switch (2014 2015)

NOTE: 

DTC Description DTC
B0050-13: Open or increased resistance in the driver's seat belt buckle switch  

DTC (SRS)

  1. Problem verification

    - 1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

    - 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds. Buckle and unbuckle the driver's seat belt several times.

    - 3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    DTC Description DTC
    B0050-13: Open or increased resistance in the driver's seat belt buckle switch  

    Is DTC B0050-13 indicated?

    YES 

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. GO TO TROUBLESHOOTING INTERMITTENT FAILURES . If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.

  2. SRS unit check

    - 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.

    Terminal A SRS UNIT CONNECTOR B (39P) NO. 18

    - 3. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

    - 4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.

    - 5. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    DTC Description DTC
    B0050-1:1 Short or decreased resistance in the driver's seat belt buckle switch  
    B0050-2B: Short to another wire harness in the driver's seat belt buckle switch  

    Is DTC B0050-11 or B0050-2B indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector B (39P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, REPLACE THE SRS UNIT . If the DTC does not clear, replace the right side wire harness.

  3. Open wire check (FLBC line)

    - 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Remove the jumper wire from SRS unit connector B (39P).

    - 3. Disconnect the driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (A) on the right side wire harness.

    - 4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 5. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (on the right side wire harness): disconnected
    Test circuit FLBC
    Test point 1 Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 1 (on the right side wire harness)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 10 V or more?

    YES 

    The FLBC wire is OK. Go to step 4.

    NO 

    Open in the right side wire harness; replace the right side wire harness, then clear the DTC.

  4. Open wire check (GND line)

    - 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (on the right side wire harness): disconnected
    Test circuit GND
    Test point 1 Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 2 (BLK) (on the right side wire harness)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    The GND wire is OK. Faulty driver's seat belt buckle switch; REPLACE THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT BUCKLE ASSEMBLY , then clear the DTC.

    NO 

    Open in the right side wire harness; check for a poor ground at G651. If the ground is OK, replace the right side wire harness, then clear the DTC.
