DTC B0001-13: Open Or Increased Resistance In The Driver's Airbag First Inflator (2014 2015)
NOTE:
- BEFORE DOING THIS TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURE, FIND OUT IF THE VEHICLE WAS IN A COLLISION. IF SO, VERIFY THAT ALL THE REQUIRED COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED WITH NEW COMPONENTS, OF THE CORRECT PART NUMBER, AND THAT THEY WERE PROPERLY INSTALLED .
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES , GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION , and 12 VOLT BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION .
- Before replacing the SRS unit, check the SRS unit software version with the HDS. If the software version is not the latest, UPDATE THE SRS UNIT SOFTWARE , and retest.

DTC (SRS)
- Problem verification
- 1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
- 3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B0001-13: Open or increased resistance in the driver's airbag first inflator Is DTC B0001-13 indicated?
YES
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. GO TO TROUBLESHOOTING INTERMITTENT FAILURES . If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
- Driver's airbag inflator check
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
- 3. Remove the driver's airbag.
- 4. Disconnect the driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (A) on the cable reel harness.
- 5. Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.
Terminal A Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector No. 1 (on the cable reel harness) Terminal B Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector No. 2 (on the cable reel harness) - 6. Reconnect the negative cable to the 12 volt battery.
- 7. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- 8. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
- 9. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B0001-13: Open or increased resistance in the driver's airbag first inflator Is DTC B0001-13 indicated?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Faulty driver's airbag first inflator; REPLACE THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG , then clear the DTC.
- Cable reel check
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
- 3. Remove the jumper wire from the driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector on the cable reel harness.
- 4. Remove the column covers.
- 5. Disconnect cable reel connector B (4P) on the dashboard wire harness.
- 6. Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.
Terminal A Cable reel connector B (4P) No. 1 (on the dashboard wire harness) Terminal B Cable reel connector B (4P) No. 2 (on the dashboard wire harness) - 7. Reconnect the negative cable to the 12 volt battery.
- 8. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- 9. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
- 10.CHECK FOR DTCS WITH THE HDS .
DTC Description DTC B0001-13: Open or increased resistance in the driver's airbag first inflator Is DTC B0001-13 indicated?
YES
Go to step 4.
NO
Open in the cable reel; REPLACE THE CABLE REEL , then clear the DTC.
- Open wire check (LA1+, LA1- lines)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
- 3. Remove the jumper wire from cable reel connector B (4P) on the dashboard wire harness.
- 4. Disconnect the following connector.
SRS UNIT CONNECTOR A (39P) - 5. Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.
Terminal A SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 8 Terminal B SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 9 - 6. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness): disconnected Cable reel connector B (4P) (on the dashboard wire harness): disconnected SRS unit connector A (39P): disconnected SRS unit connector A (39P) terminals No. 8 and No. 9: jumped Test circuit LA1+, LA1- Test point 1 Cable reel connector B (4P) No. 1 (on the dashboard wire harness) Test point 2 Cable reel connector B (4P) No. 2 (on the dashboard wire harness) Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
The LA1+ and LA1- wires are OK. Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector A (39P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, REPLACE THE SRS UNIT . If the DTC does not clear, replace the dashboard wire harness.
NO
Open in the dashboard wire harness; replace the dashboard wire harness, then clear the DTC.
