DTC B0001-12: Short To Power In The Driver's Airbag First Inflator (2014 2015)
NOTE:
- BEFORE DOING THIS TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURE, FIND OUT IF THE VEHICLE WAS IN A COLLISION. IF SO, VERIFY THAT ALL THE REQUIRED COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED WITH NEW COMPONENTS, OF THE CORRECT PART NUMBER, AND THAT THEY WERE PROPERLY INSTALLED .
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES , GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION , and 12 VOLT BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION .
- Before replacing the SRS unit, check the SRS unit software version with the HDS. If the software version is not the latest, UPDATE THE SRS UNIT SOFTWARE , and retest.

DTC (SRS)
- Problem verification
- 1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
- 3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B0001-12: Short to power in the driver's airbag first inflator Is DTC B0001-12 indicated?
YES
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. GO TO TROUBLESHOOTING INTERMITTENT FAILURES . If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
- Shorted wire check (LA1+, LA1- lines to power) 1
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
- 3. Disconnect the following connector.
SRS UNIT CONNECTOR A (39P) - 4. Reconnect the negative cable to the 12 volt battery.
- 5. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 6. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode SRS unit connector A (39P): disconnected Test circuit LA1+ Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 8 Test point 2 Body ground Test circuit LA1+ Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 9 Test point 2 Body ground Is there 0.2 V or less?
YES
The LA1+ and LA1- wires are OK. REPLACE THE SRS UNIT .
NO
Go to step 3.
- Shorted wire check (LA1+, LA1- lines to power) 2
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
- 3. Remove the driver's airbag.
- 4. Disconnect the driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (A) on the cable reel harness.
- 5. Reconnect the negative cable to the 12 volt battery.
- 6. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 7. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode SRS unit connector A (39P): disconnected Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness): disconnected Test circuit LA1+ Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 8 Test point 2 Body ground Test circuit LA1+ Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 9 Test point 2 Body ground Is there 0.2 V or less?
YES
The LA1+ and LA1- wires are OK. Faulty driver's airbag first inflator; REPLACE THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG , then clear the DTC.
NO
Go to step 4.
- Shorted wire check (LA1+, LA1- lines to power) 3
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
- 3. Remove the column covers.
- 4. Disconnect cable reel connector B (4P) on the dashboard wire harness.
- 5. Reconnect the negative cable to the 12 volt battery.
- 6. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 7. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode SRS unit connector A (39P): disconnected Driver's airbag inflator 2P connector (LA1 lines) (on the cable reel harness): disconnected Cable reel connector B (4P) (on the dashboard wire harness): disconnected Test circuit LA1+ Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 8 Test point 2 Body ground Test circuit LA1+ Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 9 Test point 2 Body ground Is there 0.2 V or less?
YES
The LA1+ and LA1- wires are OK. Short to power in the cable reel; REPLACE THE CABLE REEL , then clear the DTC.
NO
Short to power in the dashboard wire harness; replace the dashboard wire harness, then clear the DTC.
