Reminder Systems (MICU And Gauge Control Module) Input Test

NOTE:

MICU 

1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

2. Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connectors D, E, N, and P

NOTE: All connector views are shown from the wire side of the female terminals.

3. Inspect the connectors and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:

4. Reconnect the connectors to the under-dash fuse/relay box, and do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result

is not obtained

E6 * BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Poor ground (G401)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
P1 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Poor ground (G501)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
D3 * BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Poor ground (G601)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
D30 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Poor ground (G601)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
D22 BRN Driver's door open Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Faulty driver's door switch
  • Faulty driver's door switch ground
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Driver's door closed Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be about 5 V.

  • Faulty driver's door switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
P22 PNK Disconnect keyless access control unit connector C (20P) Check for continuity between terminal P22 and keyless access control unit connector C (20P) terminal No. 6:

There should be continuity.

An open or high resistance in the wire
N18

N1

PNK

BLK

Combination light switch OFF Measure the voltage between terminals N1 and N18:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch in any position other than OFF Measure the voltage between terminals N1 and N18:

There should be about 5 V.

  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
N20

N1

GRY

BLK

Combination light switch (PARKING position) ON Measure the voltage between terminals N1 and N20:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch OFF Measure the voltage between terminals N1 and N20:

There should be about 5 V.

  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
N19

N1

YEL

BLK

Combination light switch (headlight) ON Measure the voltage between terminals N1 and N19:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch OFF Measure the voltage between terminals N1 and N19:

There should be about 5 V.

  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire

Gauge Control Module 

5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

6. Disconnect the gauge control module connector A (32P)

7. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:

8. Reconnect the connector, and do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result

is not obtained

A1 WHT Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be battery voltage.

  • Blown No. A21 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • Faulty under-dash fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
A17 BRN Turn the vehicle to the ON mode Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be battery voltage.

  • Blown No. B5 (10 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
A4 BRN In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Poor ground (G502)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
A10 LT GRN Parking brake switch ON (Lever pulled) Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Faulty parking brake switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Parking brake switch OFF (Lever released) Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be about 5 V.

  • Faulty parking brake switch
  • A short to ground in the wire

9. If multiple failures are found on more than one control unit, replace the under-dash fuse/relay box (includes the MICU). If input failures are related to a particular control unit, replace the gauge control module .
