DTC U0065-00: CAN Gateway F-CAN ch D Bus Off (2017)

NOTICE: 

Marked with , always use insulated tools, and wrap the items with insulating tape.

NOTE:  Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information - Refer to: How to Troubleshoot the Fuel and Emissions Systems (2017) .

DTC Description DTC
U0065-00 CAN Gateway F-CAN ch D Bus Off  

DTC (CAN GATEWAY)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    - 3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

    - 5. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

    Is DTC U0065-00 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. If the on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the on-board snapshot - Refer to: How to Troubleshoot the Fuel and Emissions Systems (2017) .

  2. Shorted unit check (PCM)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.

    - 3. Disconnect the following connector.

    PCM connector A (50P)

    - 4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 5. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    - 6. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 7. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

    - 8. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

    Is DTC U0065-00 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting, or substitute a known-good PCM - Refer to: PCM Removal and Installation (2017) , then recheck. If the DTC 0065-00 goes away and the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM - Refer to: PCM Removal and Installation (2017) .

  3. Shorted unit check (PCU)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

    NOTE:  Before disconnecting the PCU connector, do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure , and turn off the service plug - Refer to: Electric Powertrain Service Precautions (2017) .

    PCU 33P connector

    - 3. Connect the 12 volt battery terminal.

    - 4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 5. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    - 6. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 7. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

    - 8. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

    Is DTC U0065-00 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 4.

    NO 

    Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting, or substitute a known-good PCU - Refer to: PCU Removal and Installation (2017) , then recheck. If the DTC U0065-00 goes away and the PCU was substituted, replace the original PCU - Refer to: PCU Removal and Installation (2017) .

  4. Shorted unit check (battery condition monitor module)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

    NOTE:  Before disconnecting the battery condition monitor module connector, do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure , and turn off the service plug - Refer to: Electric Powertrain Service Precautions (2017) .

    Battery condition monitor module connector E (32P)

    - 3. Connect the 12 volt battery terminal.

    - 4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 5. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    - 6. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 7. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

    - 8. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

    Is DTC U0065-00 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 5.

    NO 

    Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting, or substitute a known-good battery condition monitor module - Refer to: Battery Condition Monitor Module Removal and Installation (2017) , then recheck. If the DTC U0065-00 goes away and the battery condition monitor module was substituted, replace the original battery condition monitor module - Refer to: Battery Condition Monitor Module Removal and Installation (2017) .

  5. Shorted wire check (EPP-CAN_H line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

    CAN gateway 24P connector

    - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
    PCU 33P connector: disconnected
    Battery condition monitor module connector E (32P): disconnected
    CAN gateway 24P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 CAN gateway 24P connector No. 7
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the EPP-CAN_H wire between the CAN gateway and the connected units.

    NO 

    Go to step 6.

  6. Shorted wire check (EPP-CAN_L line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
    PCU 33P connector: disconnected
    Battery condition monitor module connector E (32P): disconnected
    CAN gateway 24P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 CAN gateway 24P connector No. 6
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the EPP-CAN_L wire between the CAN gateway and the connected units.

    NO 

    Go to step 7.

  7. Shorted wire check (EPP-CAN_H line to EPP-CAN_L line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
    PCU 33P connector: disconnected
    Battery condition monitor module connector E (32P): disconnected
    CAN gateway 24P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 CAN gateway 24P connector No. 6
    Test point 2 CAN gateway 24P connector No. 7

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the EPP-CAN_H wire to EPP-CAN_L wire between CAN gateway terminals No. 6 and No. 7.

    NO 

    The EPP-CAN_H wire and the EPP-CAN_L wire are OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting, or substitute a known-good CAN gateway - Refer to: CAN Gateway Removal and Installation (2017) , then recheck. If DTC U0065-00 goes away and the CAN gateway was substituted, replace the original CAN gateway - Refer to: CAN Gateway Removal and Installation (2017) .
