DTC U0047-00: CAN Gateway F-CAN ch B Bus Off (2017)

NOTICE: 

Marked with , always use insulated tools, and wrap the items with insulating tape.

NOTE:  Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information - Refer to: How to Troubleshoot the Fuel and Emissions Systems (2017) .

DTC Description DTC
U0047-00 CAN Gateway F-CAN ch B Bus Off  

DTC (CAN GATEWAY)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    - 3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

    - 5. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    U0047-00 CAN Gateway F-CAN ch B Bus Off  

    Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. If the on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the on-board snapshot - Refer to: How to Troubleshoot the Fuel and Emissions Systems (2017) .

  2. Shorted unit check (PCM)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.

    - 3. Disconnect the following connector.

    PCM connector A (50P)

    - 4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 5. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    - 6. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 7. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

    - 8. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting, or substitute a known-good PCM - Refer to: PCM Removal and Installation (2017) , then recheck. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM - Refer to: PCM Removal and Installation (2017) .

  3. Shorted unit check (electric servo brake control unit)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

    NOTE:  Before disconnecting the electric servo brake control unit connector, open the driver's door and wait for at least 3 minutes.

    Electric servo brake control unit 22P connector

    - 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 4. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    - 5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 6. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

    - 7. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 4.

    NO 

    Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting, or substitute a known-good electric servo brake control unit - Refer to: Electric Servo Brake Control Unit/Pedal Feel Simulator Removal and Installation (2017) , then recheck. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the electric servo brake control unit was substituted, replace the original electric servo brake control unit - Refer to: Electric Servo Brake Control Unit/Pedal Feel Simulator Removal and Installation (2017) .

  4. Shorted unit check (ANC/active sound control unit)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

    ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector

    - 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 4. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    - 5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 6. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

    - 7. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 5.

    NO 

    Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting, or substitute a known-good ANC/active sound control unit , then recheck. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the ANC/active sound control unit was substituted, replace the original ANC/active sound control unit .

  5. Shorted unit check (acoustic vehicle alerting control unit)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Acoustic vehicle alerting control unit 12P connector

    - 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 4. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    - 5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 6. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

    - 7. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    U0047-00 CAN Gateway F-CAN ch B Bus Off  

    Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 6.

    NO 

    Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting, or substitute a known-good acoustic vehicle alerting control unit , then recheck. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the acoustic vehicle alerting control unit was substituted, replace the original acoustic vehicle alerting control unit .

  6. Shorted unit check (VSA modulator-control unit)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

    VSA modulator-control unit 21P connector

    - 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 4. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    - 5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 6. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

    - 7. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 7.

    NO 

    Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting, or replace the VSA modulator-control unit .

  7. Shorted wire check (F-CAN B_H line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

    CAN gateway 24P connector

    - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      Electric servo brake control unit 22P connector: disconnected
    ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector: disconnected
    Acoustic vehicle alerting control unit 12P connector: disconnected
    VSA modulator-control unit 21P connector: disconnected
    Keyless access control unit connector C (24P): disconnected
    CAN gateway 24P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 CAN gateway 24P connector No. 11
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the F-CAN B_H wire between the CAN gateway and the connected units.

    NO 

    Go to step 8.

  8. Shorted wire check (F-CAN B_L line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      Electric servo brake control unit 22P connector: disconnected
    ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector: disconnected
    Acoustic vehicle alerting control unit 12P connector: disconnected
    VSA modulator-control unit 21P connector: disconnected
    Keyless access control unit connector C (24P): disconnected
    CAN gateway 24P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 CAN gateway 24P connector No. 10
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the F-CAN B_L wire between the CAN gateway and the connected units.

    NO 

    Go to step 9.

  9. Shorted wire check (F-CAN B_H line to F-CAN B_L line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
      Electric servo brake control unit 22P connector: disconnected
    ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector: disconnected
    Acoustic vehicle alerting control unit 12P connector: disconnected
    VSA modulator-control unit 21P connector: disconnected
    Keyless access control unit connector C (24P): disconnected
    CAN gateway 24P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 CAN gateway 24P connector No. 10
    Test point 2 CAN gateway 24P connector No. 11

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the F-CAN B_H wire to F-CAN B_L wire between CAN gateway terminals No. 10 and No. 11.

    NO 

    Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting, or substitute a known-good CAN gateway - Refer to: CAN Gateway Removal and Installation (2017) , then recheck. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the CAN gateway was substituted, replace the original CAN gateway - Refer to: CAN Gateway Removal and Installation (2017) . If DTC U0047-00 is indicated again, replace the keyless access control unit .
