DTC 52-02: Torque Sensor Power Supply (Initial Diagnosis)
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Clear the DTC with the HDS.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Start the engine.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 52-02 indicated?
YES -Go to step 6.
NO -Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the EPS control unit.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Disconnect EPS control unit connector B (16P) (see step 3 ).
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Measure the voltage between body ground and EPS control unit connector B (16P) terminals No. 12 and No. 16 individually.Fig 1: Measuring Voltage Between Body Ground And EPS Control Unit Connector B (16P) Terminals No. 12 And No. 16

Is there battery voltage?
YES -Repair a short to power in the wire harness between the EPS control unit and the torque sensor.
NO -Go to step 10.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Substitute a known-good EPS control unit (see EPS CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
- Start the engine.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 52-02 indicated?
YES -Replace the steering gearbox (see STEERING GEARBOX REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ).
NO -Replace the original EPS control unit (see EPS CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
