Side Airbag Replacement: Removal

  1. Do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure (see 12 VOLT BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION ), then wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.
  2. Remove the front seat (see HEAD RESTRAINT TRIM REPLACEMENT ).
  3. Release the seat-back cover strap and the seat cushion cover hooks from the seat cushion frame spring.
  4. Detach the clips (A) and wire ties (B) of side airbag harness from the seat cushion frame.

  5. Unzip the seat-cover from behind the seat-back (see step 5 on SEAT-BACK COVER REPLACEMENT ).
  6. Pull back the seat-back cover, then release the hook strips from the seat-back frame (see step 6 on SEAT-BACK COVER REPLACEMENT ).
  7. Remove the protective board from the seat-back (see step 7 on SEAT-BACK COVER REPLACEMENT ).
  8. Release airbag attachment wire B from the seat-back frame (A).

  9. Detach the clip (C). Pull out the side airbag harness in the seat-back cover, then remove the two mounting nuts (D) and the side airbag (E).
