Countershaft Disassembly

Special Tools Required 

Bearing Separator 07KAF-PS30200

NOTE: Refer to the EXPLODED VIEW  in the countershaft reassembly, as needed, when removing components pressed onto the countershaft (see COUNTERSHAFT REASSEMBLY  ).
  1. Securely clamp the countershaft assembly in a bench vise with wood blocks.

  2. Remove the special bolt (left-hand threads).
  3. Support 6th gear (A) on bearing separator (B), and press the countershaft out of the ball bearing (C), the 32 mm shim, and 6th gear using an attachment (D) and a press (E).

  4. Support 4th gear (A) on bearing separator (B), and press the countershaft (C) out of 4th gear and 5th gear using an attachment (D) and a press (E).

  5. Support 2nd gear (A) on bearing separator (B), and press the countershaft (C) out of 2nd gear and 3rd gear using an attachment (D) and a press (E).

  6. Remove the needle bearing (A), the 2nd gear distance collar (B), the friction damper (C), the double cone synchro assembly (D), and the synchro spring (E) from the countershaft (F).

  7. Remove the reverse gear (A), the 1st/2nd synchro hub (B), the synchro spring (C), the synchro ring (D), and the friction damper (E) from the countershaft (F).

  8. Remove 1st gear (G), the needle bearing (H), and the 1st gear distance collar (I) from the countershaft.
