Intermediate Shaft Removal

  1. Drain the transmission fluid, then reinstall the drain plug with a new sealing washer (see ATF REPLACEMENT ).
  2. Remove the right front driveshaft (see step 9 on FRONT DRIVESHAFT REMOVAL ).
  3. Remove the subframe stiffener (see step 43 on TRANSMISSION REMOVAL ).
  4. Remove the exhaust pipe A (see EXHAUST PIPE AND MUFFLER REPLACEMENT ).
  5. Remove the rear warm up three way catalytic converter (WU-TWC) bracket (A).

  6. Remove the flange bolt (A), and two dowel bolts (B).

  7. Remove the intermediate shaft (C) from the differential. Hold the intermediate shaft horizontally until it is clear of the differential to prevent damaging the oil seal (D), then install a new set ring (E).
