Rear Door Panel Removal/Installation

Special Tools Required 

* Available through the Honda Tool and Equipment Program; call 888-424-6857

NOTE:
  • Take care not to scratch the door and related parts.
  • Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.
  1. Lower the glass fully.
  2. Pull back the upper portion of the door quarter inner trim (A) to detach the clip.

  3. Release the hooks (A), then remove the door quarter inner trim (B).

  4. Pull back the inner handle knob (A). Push on the lower hook (B) with the appropriate trim tool, and pivot the cover (C) on the upper hooks (D), then remove the cover.

  5. Remove the screws and the inner handle (A) to release the hooks (B, C), then disconnect the inner handle cable (D).

  6. Remove the screw from under the pull pocket lid (A).

  7. Remove the door panel (A) with as little bending as possible to avoid creasing or breaking it.
    1. -1 Detach the clips with a commercially available trim pad remover.
    2. -2 Starting at the rear, pull the door panel upward, then release the lock knob (B).
    NOTE: To avoid damaging components inside the door, do not use excessive force when lifting up on the panel.

  8. Disconnect the courtesy light bulb socket (A) and the power window switch connector (B), then detach the harness clip (C).

  9. Install the door panel in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
    • If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
    • Make sure each connector is plugged in properly, and the cable and the courtesy light bulb socket are connected properly.
    • Make sure the power window and the power door lock operates properly.
    • When reinstalling the door panel, make sure the plastic cover is installed properly and sealed around its outside perimeter to seal out water.
    • Push the clips and the hooks into place securely.
