The VTM-4 LOCK indicator comes on when the ignition switch is turned ON (II) and does not go off

NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
  1. Disconnect VTM-4 control unit connector A (22P).
  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  3. Watch the VTM-4 LOCK indicator.

Does the VTM-4 LOCK indicator come on?

    YES  -Go to step 4.

NO  -Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the VTM-4 control unit connectors. If the connections are OK, substitute a known-good VTM-4 control unit (see VTM-4 CONTROL UNIT REPLACEMENT ) and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with the known-good VTM-4 control unit, replace the original VTM-4 control unit (see VTM-4 CONTROL UNIT REPLACEMENT ). ■

  4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  5. Disconnect the VTM-4 LOCK switch 5P connector.
  6. Check for continuity between VTM-4 control unit connector terminal A16 and body ground.
