No sound is heard from the speaker(s) (display is normal)
- Check the vehicle battery condition first (see BATTERY TEST ).
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Do the individual speaker test (see INDIVIDUAL SPEAKER TEST ).
- Set the fader and balance positions to the center.
- Before doing symptom troubleshooting, do the audio unit power switch will not turn on (No information display and no sound) troubleshooting (see AUDIO UNIT POWER SWITCH WILL NOT TURN ON (NO INFORMATION DISPLAY AND NO SOUND) ).
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Turn on the audio system, and make sure the volume button is not set to the MIN level.
Is it at the MIN level?
YES -Raise the volume level, and recheck the function. ■
NO -Go to step 3.
- Check for sound in each mode (AM/FM, CD, and XM).
Is there sound in all modes, and is the sound normal?
YES -Intermittent failure. The system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections at the audio unit and speaker(s).
NO -
- If there is no sound in all models:
- If there is no sound in AM/FM mode, do the AM or FM radio reception interference troubleshooting (see POOR AM OR FM RADIO RECEPTION OR INTERFERENCE ).
- If there is no sound in CD mode, do the Audio disc does not play troubleshooting (see AUDIO DISC DOES NOT PLAY ).
- If there is no sound in the XM radio, do the Poor or no sound with XM radio troubleshooting (see POOR OR NO SOUND WITH XM RADIO (AUDIO UNIT DOES DISPLAY XM CHANNELS) ).
- On the steering wheel, check if the navigation TALK command, and/or the HandsFreeLink (HFL) TALK command are set.
Are the navigation talk command and/or the HFL TALK command function set?
YES -Cancel the navigation TALK command by pressing the navigation BACK button, and/or the HFL TALK command, press the HFL BACK button, then recheck the function.
NO -Go to step 5.
- Do the Speaker Check Mode with the Self-Diagnostic Function (see SPEAKER CHECK MODE ).
Did all speakers produce a tone?
YES -Substitute a known-good audio unit, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio unit.
NO -Go to step 6.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Check the speaker(s) with no sound for any damage.
Is there any damage?
YES -Replace the speaker(s) (see SPEAKER TEST/REPLACEMENT ), and recheck.
NO -Go to step 8.
- Remove the speaker(s) (see SPEAKER TEST/REPLACEMENT ), with no sound, and disconnect its connector.
- Check the speaker 2P connector for a loose or poor connection.
Reconnect the speaker 2P connector, and recheck the symptom; is the problem still present?
YES -Go to step 10.
NO -Intermittent failure. The system is OK at this time.
- Test the speakers (see SPEAKER TEST/REPLACEMENT ).
Is the speaker OK?
YES -Go to step 11.
NO -Replace the faulty speaker(s) (see SPEAKER TEST/REPLACEMENT ). ■
- Reconnect the speaker connector(s).
- Disconnect audio unit connector A (24P) and audio unit connector C (14P).
- Check for continuity between body ground and audio unit connector A (24P) terminals and audio unit connector C (14P) terminals according to the table.WIRE COLOR REFERENCE

YES -Repair a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the speaker(s).
NO -Go to step 14.
- Disconnect the left tweeter 2P connector and right tweeter 2P connector.
- Measure the resistance between each pair of speaker terminals at audio unit connector A (24P) terminals and audio unit connector C (14P) terminals according to the table.WIRE COLOR REFERENCE

NO -Repair an open or a short in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the speaker(s).
- Disconnect the front door speaker(s) 2P connector.
- Connect audio unit connector A (24P) terminals with a jumper wire as shown.
- Check for continuity between tweeter 2P connector terminals according to the table.TWEETER CONNECTOR TERMINAL CHART

Is there continuity?
YES -Replace the audio unit (see AUDIO UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
NO -Repair an open in the wire between the audio unit and the tweeter speaker.
