DTC B1192: Gauge Control Module Lost Communication With the Battery Sensor (UART LINE)
- Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- Wait for at least 15 seconds.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC B1192 indicated?
YES -Go to step 4.
NO -Intermittent failure, the battery sensor is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections between the battery sensor and the gauge control module.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Check the No. A2-8 (BMS) (30 A) and the No. A8 (7.5 A) fuses in the main under-hood fuse box.
Are the fuse(s) OK?
YES -Go to step 6.
NO -Replace the fuses. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground on the No. A2-8 (BMS) (30 A) and/or No. A8 (7.5 A) fuse circuit.
- Disconnect the battery sensor 2P connector.
- Measure the voltage between battery sensor 2P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.

Is there battery voltage?
YES -Go to step 8.
NO -Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the main under-hood fuse box and the battery sensor.
- Disconnect the gauge control module 32P connector.
- Measure the voltage between battery sensor 2P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.

Is there voltage?
YES -Repair a short to power in the wire between the gauge control module and the battery sensor.
NO -Go to step 10.
- Check for continuity between battery sensor 2? connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.

Is there continuity?
YES -Repair a short to ground in the wire between the battery sensor and the gauge control module.
NO -Go to step 11.
- Check for continuity between battery sensor 2P connector terminal No. 2 and gauge control module 32P connector terminal No. 23.Fig 4: Checking Continuity Between Battery Sensor 2P Connector Terminal No. 2 And Gauge Control Module 32P Connector Terminal No. 23

Is there continuity?
YES -Substitute a known-good battery sensor, and recheck. If the DTC is still present, replace gauge control module (see GAUGE CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT ).
NO -Repair an open in the UART wire between the gauge control module and the battery sensor.
