Pedal Height (Accord, Insight, Odyssey & S2000)

1. Disconnect brake switch connector. Loosen brake pedal position switch lock nut and back off switch until it no longer touches brake pedal. On Insight with CVT, disconnect idle stop switch connector, and loosen stop switch. On Accord, remove floor mat and measure pedal height from left side center of pedal pad. See Figure . For Insight and S2000, lift up carpet, and measure pedal height at insulator cutout, from middle of right side center of pedal pad. On all models, see BRAKE PEDAL HEIGHT SPECIFICATIONS  table for standard pedal height.
2. On all models except Odyssey, loosen pushrod lock nut, and screw pushrod in or out with pliers until correct pedal height is obtained. Tighten lock nut firmly. Do not adjust the pedal height with pushrod pressed.
3. On all models, screw in brake pedal position switch until its plunger is fully pressed (threaded end touching pad on pedal arm). See Fig 1 . For Accord and Odyssey, back off switch 3/4 of a turn to make 0.04" (0.9 mm) of clearance between threaded end and pad. For Insight and S2000, back off switch 1/4 of turn to make 0.01" (0.3 mm) of clearance. On all models, tighten lock nut firmly. Connect brake pedal position switch connector. Make sure brake lights go off when pedal is released. Check brake pedal free play. See FREE PLAY  .
   NOTE: For Insight, when either brake pedal position switch or idle stop switch needs adjusting, both switches must be adjusted together to keep their functions synchronized. Always adjust brake pedal position switch first, then adjust idle stop switch; NEVER adjust switches independently. When brake pedal is released, the brake pedal position switch is normally open and the idle stop switch is normally closed.
