N Position
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Honda Odyssey, 2003 Honda Odyssey, and 2002 Honda Odyssey. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Engine power transmitted from the torque converter drives the mainshaft 3rd gear, the countershaft 3rd gear, and the secondary shaft idler gear, but hydraulic pressure is not applied to the clutches. Power is not transmitted to the countershaft. The countershaft 5th gear is engaged to the reverse selector hub by the shift fork reverse selector when the shift lever is shifted to the N position from any of the forward range positions (D, D3, 2, and 1 positions). The countershaft reverse gear is engaged when shifted from the R position.
