Removal (CR-V)
- Loosen wheel lug nuts. Raise and support vehicle. Remove lug nuts and wheel assembly. Remove brake drum from hub by threading two 8 x 1.25 mm bolts into drum. Turn each bolt two turns at a time.
- Pry the spindle nut lock tab away from the spindle and remove spindle nut. Remove or disconnect brake shoes, parking brake cable and brake line. Remove bearing unit/backing plate attaching bolts. Using a puller, remove bearing unit/backing plate from hub. See Figure.
