Cable Reel: Installation

  1. Ensure front wheels are aligned straight ahead. Install cancel sleeve so that projections are aligned vertically. See Figure . Carefully install cable reel on steering column shaft. Connect 6-pin connector to cable reel sub-harness and 2-pin connector to SRS main harness. Install steering column covers. See Figure . Center cable reel if necessary. See CABLE REEL CENTERING  under ADJUSTMENTS.
  2. Install steering wheel. Reconnect horn and cruise control switch connectors. See Figure . Install steering wheel bolt and tighten to 28 ft. lbs. (38 N.m).
  3. Install air bag assembly. See AIR BAG ASSEMBLIES  . Attach cable reel 2-pin connector to connector holder. Install knee bolster and dashboard lower cover. See Figure . Activate air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  . Check system for proper operation. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  .
