DTC 4-5
WARNING:
Whenever ignition is on, or has been turned off for less than 3 minutes, be careful not to bump SRS unit. Air bags could accidentally deploy and cause damage or injury.
- Before proceeding, See AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Erase DTC memory. See ERASING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE MEMORY under DIAGNOSTICS. Turn ignition on. If indicator light stays on, go to next step. If light goes off after about 6 seconds, system is okay at this time. See TROUBLESHOOTING INTERMITTENT FAILURES under DIAGNOSTICS.
- Turn ignition switch off. Disconnect battery cables, and wait 3 minutes. Disconnect passenger-side seat belt tensioner 2-pin connector from right-side wire harness. See Figure . DO NOT disconnect driver-side seat belt tensioner connector. Connect SRS Simulator Lead "C" (07TAZ-SZ5011A) and SRS Inflator Simulator (07SAZ-TB4011A) to right-side wire harness 2-pin connector. Reconnect battery cables. Erase DTC memory. See ERASING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE MEMORY under DIAGNOSTICS. Read DTC. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) under DIAGNOSTICS. If DTC 4-5 is indicated, go to next step. If DTC 4-5 is not indicated, replace passenger-side seat belt tensioner. See SEAT BELT TENSIONERS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Disconnect right-side wire harness 2-pin connector from SRS main harness. See Figure . Connect SRS simulator lead "C" and SRS inflator simulator to SRS main harness 2-pin connector. Erase DTC memory. See ERASING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE MEMORY under DIAGNOSTICS. Read DTC. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) under DIAGNOSTICS. If DTC 4-5 is indicated, go to next step. If DTC 4-5 is not indicated, replace right-side wire harness.
- Disconnect battery cables, and wait 3 minutes. Disable both air bags and driver-side seat belt tensioner. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Disconnect SRS main harness 18-pin connector from SRS unit. See Figure . Disconnect SRS simulator lead "C" and SRS inflator simulator from SRS main harness 2-pin connector. Measure resistance between terminal No. 5 of SRS main harness 18-pin connector and ground, and between terminal No. 12 of SRS main harness 18-pin connector and ground. If resistance is less than one megohm, replace SRS main harness. If resistance is one megohm or greater, replace SRS unit. See SRS UNIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
