Circuit Description

The Idle Air Control (IAC) valve is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). PCM uses IAC to maintain a desired idle speed, which can vary depending on input to PCM. Scan tool reads IAC valve pintle position in counts. The higher the counts, the more air that is allowed to by-pass throttle plate.
Conditions for setting this DTC are:
- DTCs P0106, P0107, P0108, P0112, P0113, P0117, P0118, P0121, P0122, P0123, P0125, P0131, P0132, P0133, P0134, P0200, P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0335, P0341, P0342, P0404, P0405, P0440, P0442, P0446, P0452, P0453, P0502, P0506, P0601, P0602, P0705, P0742, P1133, P1404 and P1441 not set.
- IAC valve counts are greater than 145.
- BARO is greater than 72 kPa.
- Battery voltage is 10-17 volts.
- Engine run time is greater than 20 seconds.
- Idle speed is greater than 100 RPM less than desired RPM for more than 19 seconds.
- Conditions required for setting DTC exist for greater than 5 seconds.
