Rear Drum Brake Shoes: Removal

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove rear wheels. Remove brake drums. Remove hold-down springs with cups and pins. Detach upper and lower return springs. Remove primary shoe and automatic adjuster assembly.
  2. Detach parking brake cable from automatic adjuster lever. Remove secondary shoe from backing plate. Remove retainer and wave washer. Separate adjuster lever components from secondary shoe. See Fig 1 .
