Parking Brake (Rear Disc)

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Move parking brake lever to fully released position. Loosen equalizer adjusting nut to slacken parking brake cable. See Figure . Remove rubber plug from backing plate to access adjuster wheel. Adjust rear parking shoes just until rotor cannot be turned. Back off adjuster until rotor can be turned with light force and does not drag.
  2. Adjust length of parking brake cable by turning equalizer adjusting nut. When parking brake cable is properly adjusted, parking brake lever travel range between fully disengaged and fully engaged position should be 6-8 notches. Reset adjusting nuts if travel range is not within limits.
