DTC P0135 Or DTC P0141: Ho2S Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction

- Perform PCM reset procedure. See PCM RESET PROCEDURE/CLEARING DTCS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - INTRODUCTION article. Start engine. If DTC P0135 or P0141 is indicated, go to next step. If DTC P0135 or P0141 is not indicated, problem is intermittent. System is okay at this time. Check for poor connections or loose wires at suspect HO2S sensor and PCM connectors. Also check poor connections or loose wires at C282 connector, located at right shock tower. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Repair as necessary.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect suspect HO2S 4-pin connector. Measure suspect HO2S resistance between connector terminals No. 3 (White wire) and No. 4 (White wire). See Figure . If resistance is 10-40 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 10-40 ohms, replace suspect HO2S.
- Check for continuity between ground and suspect HO2S connector terminals No. 3 (White wire) and No. 4 (White wire), individually. See Figure . If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, replace suspect HO2S.
- Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between suspect HO2S 4-pin harness connector terminals No. 3 (Black/White wire on HO2S-1; Orange/Blue wire on HO2S-2) and No. 4 (Black/Yellow wire). If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 6 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM 32-pin connector "A". If checking DTC P0135, check for continuity between ground and PCM 32-pin connector "A" terminal No. 6 (Black/White wire). If checking DTC P0141, check for continuity between ground and PCM 32-pin connector "A" terminal No. 5 (Orange/Blue wire). See Figure . If continuity exists, repair short in suspect wire between PCM 32-pin connector "A" and suspect HO2S connector. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If continuity does not exist, substitute a known-good PCM and recheck. See SUBSTITUTING PCM under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - INTRODUCTION article. If symptom or indication goes away, replace original PCM.
- Measure voltage between ground and suspect HO2S harness connector terminal No. 4 (Black/Yellow wire). See Figure . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Black/Yellow wire between No. 14 ECU/EAT ECU CRUISE CONTROL (15-amp) fuse and suspect HO2S connector. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS article. No. 14 ECU/EAT ECU CRUISE CONTROL (15-amp) fuse is located in under dash fuse/relay box.
- Turn ignition off. Reconnect HO2S 4-pin connector. Disconnect PCM 32-pin connector "A". Turn ignition on. If checking DTC P0135, measure voltage between PCM 32-pin connector "A" terminal No. 6 (Black/White wire) and No. 10 (Black wire). If checking DTC P0141, measure voltage between PCM 32-pin connector "A" terminal No. 5 (Orange/Blue wire) and A10 (Black wire). See Figure . If voltage is 0.1 volt or less, repair open in suspect wire between PCM 32-pin connector "A" and suspect HO2S. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If voltage is more than 0.1 volt, substitute a known-good PCM and recheck. See SUBSTITUTING PCM under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - INTRODUCTION article. If symptom or indication goes away, replace original PCM.
