Removal (Amigo, Passport/Rodeo, Trooper & VehiCROSS)

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove engine splash shield and lower fan shroud (if necessary). Clean steering gear. Disconnect hoses at steering gear. Cap or plug all openings to prevent contamination. Wire hoses aside to prevent fluid drainage.
    NOTE: Before removing steering shaft coupler from stub shaft on steering gear, make reference marks on coupler and shaft for installation reference.
  2. Remove stabilizer bar. Remove steering shaft coupler pinch bolt. Remove pitman arm nut and washer. Using Puller (J-29107-A), separate pitman arm from steering gear sector shaft. Remove steering gear-to-frame bolts. Remove steering gear from vehicle.
