Amigo, Passport/Rodeo, Trooper & VehiCROSS

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 15 other vehicles, including the 2000 Isuzu VehiCROSS, 2000 Isuzu Trooper, 2000 Isuzu Rodeo, 2000 Isuzu Hombre, and 2000 Isuzu Amigo. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Start engine and let idle. With front wheels in straight-ahead position and steering wheel centered, turn steering wheel in both directions to determine amount of free play. Free play should be as specified. See STEERING GEAR FREE PLAY SPECIFICATIONS  table.
  2. If free play exceeds specification, loosen lock nut on top cover. See Fig 1. Turn adjustment screw until steering wheel free play is within specification. Tighten lock nut to 30 ft. lbs. (41 N.m). For additional adjustment procedures, see POWER STEERING GEAR (AMIGO, PASSPORT/RODEO, TROOPER & VEHICROSS)  under OVERHAUL.
