Steering Knuckle: Removal

- Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheels. Remove disc brake caliper and position aside. Remove hub and rotor assembly. See FRONT DISC BRAKE ROTOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate DISC & DRUM article in BRAKES. Remove tie rod end from knuckle arm.
- Remove backing plate from steering knuckle. Support lower control arm. Remove cotter pin and nut from upper and lower ball joints. See Figure or Figure . Separate ball joints from steering knuckle. Remove steering knuckle.
