Diagnostic Aids
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2000 Isuzu Hombre. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Check wiring for an open or short circuit. If vehicle does not start, or starts and stalls, turn ignition off and wait at least 5 seconds before trying restart.
When VCM receives password from VTD control module that does not match stored password, DTC P1631 should be present. Check for VTD codes first. If both at VCM DTC P1626 and U1192 are set, check wiring between VCM and VTD for continuity. If a VCM DTC P1626 is set, but a VCM DTC U1192 is not, then VTD control module may be defective. If VCM DTCs P1626, P1630, P1631 U1192 are not set, cause of no start is probably not a VTD system problem.
