Temperature Gauge Test

  1. Check fuse No. 25 (7.5-amp) in underdash fuse/relay box. If problem exists, replace fuse and retest system. If problem does not exist, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect coolant temperature gauge sending unit connector (Yellow/Green wire). Connect jumper wire between ground and coolant temperature gauge sending unit connector (Yellow/Green wire). Turn ignition on and observe coolant temperature gauge pointer. Pointer should start to move toward "H" mark. Turn ignition off before pointer reaches "H" mark to avoid damage to gauge. Go to next step.
  3. If gauge pointer moves as specified, check temperature gauge sending unit. See TEMPERATURE GAUGE SENDING UNIT TEST  . If gauge pointer does not move as specified, check for open in Yellow/Green wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If problem exists, repair Yellow/Green wire between coolant temperature gauge sending unit and gauge assembly. If problem does not exist, replace temperature gauge.
