Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Test

  1. Turn ignition off. Fold left rear seat forward and remove base frame cover. Remove fuel tank access panel. Disconnect fuel pump 5-pin connector. Loosen banjo bolt from top of fuel filter to relieve fuel pressure. Disconnect fuel lines from fuel pump. Remove fuel pump assembly.
  2. Measure resistance between fuel gauge sending unit connector terminals No. 2 and 5 (component side) with float in empty (down), half-full (middle) and full (up) positions. See Fig 1 . Compare with expected values. See FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS  . If resistance values are not as specified, replace fuel pump assembly.
