Removal & Installation (Rear Brakes)
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove rear wheels. Apply parking brake. Remove hub cap. Raise locking tab on spindle nut. Remove spindle nut. Release parking brake. Remove brake drum, hub bearing unit and spindle washer. Check hub bearing unit for cracks and damage. Remove 4 backing plate bolts. Pull backing plate away from trailing arm and remove wheel sensor.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure air gap between wheel sensor and pulser is .02-.04" (.4-1.0 mm) all way around pulser. If air gap exceeds specification at any point, probable cause is a distorted knuckle. Replace knuckle. See HUB & KNUCKLE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate SUSPENSION article.
