DTC 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38: Solenoid
- If ABS indicator light stays on with ignition switch in ON position, or ABS indicator light illuminates when ABS is functioning, and DTC 31-38 is set, go to next step.
- Disconnect ABS control unit 22-pin connector "A" and 26-pin connector "B". See Figure
. Start engine. Measure voltage between ground and appropriate ABS control unit solenoid circuit terminal. See SOLENOID CIRCUIT TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION FOR DTC 31-38
table. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, repair short to power in appropriate solenoid circuit wire between ABS control unit and ABS modulator unit.SOLENOID CIRCUIT TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION FOR DTC 31-38
DTC (Wheel & Solenoid) ABS Control Unit Connector & Terminal No. (Wire Color) 31 (Right Front - In) "A" 1 (RED/BLU) 32 (Right Front - Out) "A" 12 (YEL/BLU) 33 (Left Front - In) "A" 11 (RED/BLK) 34 (Left Front - Out) "A" 10 (YEL/BLK) 35 (Right Rear - In) "B" 13 (RED/WHT) 36 (Right Rear - Out) "A" 21 (BLU) 37 (Left Rear - In) "B" 25 (RED) 38 (Left Rear - Out) "B" 12 (YEL) - Check for continuity between ground and appropriate ABS control unit solenoid circuit terminal. See SOLENOID CIRCUIT TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION FOR DTC 31-38 table. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, check for short to ground in appropriate solenoid circuit wire between ABS control unit and ABS modulator unit. If problem exists, repair short. If problem does not exist, replace ABS modulator unit.
- Turn ignition off. Reconnect ABS control unit connector "A" and connector "B". Connect fused jumper wire or SCS Service Connector (07PAZ-0010100) between 2-pin service check connector terminals. See Figure or Figure . Turn ignition on. For DTCs 33, 34, 35 and 36, measure voltage between ground and ABS control unit 26-pin connector "B" terminal No. 1 (Green/White wire) by backprobing. For DTCs 31, 32, 37 and 38, measure voltage between ground and ABS control unit 22-pin connector "A" terminal No. 2 (Black/White wire) by backprobing. If about 3 volts exist, go to next step. If about 3 volts do not exist, check for loose ABS control unit connectors. If problem exists, repair connector(s) and retest system. If problem does not exist, replace ABS control unit and retest system.
- Measure voltage between ground and appropriate ABS control unit solenoid circuit terminal by backprobing. See SOLENOID CIRCUIT TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION FOR DTC 31-38 table. If about 3 volts do not exist, go to next step. If about 3 volts exist, check for loose ABS control unit connectors. If problem exists, repair connector(s) and retest system. If problem does not exist, replace ABS control unit and retest system.
- Check for open in appropriate wire in solenoid circuit or common circuit between ABS control unit and ABS modulator unit. If problem exists, repair wire. If problem does not exist, replace modulator unit.
