Defogger Inoperative

  1. Check fuse No. 16 (7.5-amp) located in underdash fuse block. Replace as required. Remove power mirror switch. Disconnect switch from harness. See POWER MIRROR SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, check for voltage between terminal No. 1 (Black/Blue wire) and ground. See Figure. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open circuit in Black/Blue wire between mirror switch and underdash fuse block.
  3. Using a fused jumper wire, connect terminal No. 3 (Blue/Black wire) to terminal No. 6 (Orange/White wire). Both mirrors should start to warm up with ignition switch on. If neither mirror warms up, check for an open circuit in Orange/White wire. If only one mirror fails to warm up, check affected mirror heating element. If both mirrors warm up, check switch. See POWER MIRROR SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS.
