Civic & CR-V
- Disable air bag systems. See
AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Remove driver's side instrument panel lower cover. Disconnect cable reel sub-harness 3-pin connector (6-pin connector on CR-V) from main wiring harness. See Fig 1 or Fig 2
. Go to next step.
- Check continuity between ground and cable reel sub-harness 3-pin connector terminal No. 2 (6-pin connector terminal No. 3 on CR-V) while depressing horn switch. See Fig 1 or Fig 2
. If continuity exists, horn switch is okay. If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
- Remove driver's side air bag module. Disconnect horn switch connector from steering wheel. See Fig 1 or Fig 2
. Check continuity between cable reel sub-harness connector terminal No. 2 (6-pin connector terminal No. 3 on CR-V) and horn switch positive terminal. See Fig 3. If continuity exists, repair or replace defective horn switch. If continuity does not exist, replace cable reel. See
AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
- To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Check for proper horn operation. Ensure proper operation of air bag warning indicator. With ignition switch in ON position, SRS indicator should illuminate for about 6 seconds, then turn off.
