Removal (Prelude)
- Drain power steering fluid. Raise and support front of vehicle. Remove front wheels. Remove driver's airbag assembly. Remove steering "U" joint cover. Disconnect steering "U" joint from steering gear. Remove tie rod cotter pins. Partially loosen tie rod castle nuts. Using Ball Joint Remover (07MAC-SL00200), disconnect tie rods from steering knuckles. Remove castle nuts and separate tie rods from steering knuckles.
- Disconnect pump outlet hose and return line from valve body unit on steering gear. DO NOT loosen cylinder lines between valve body unit and cylinder.
- Remove exhaust pipe. Disconnect shift linkage. Remove stiffener plates first, then remove mounting brackets and mounting cushions.
- Move steering gear to right so left tie rod end clears rear beam, then move steering gear to left, and tilt left side down to remove it from vehicle.
