Temperature Gauge Test

CAUTION: In the following tests, turn ignition off before gauge pointer reaches "H" mark. Failure to turn ignition off before pointer reaches "H" mark may damage gauge.
  1. Turn ignition on. Check No. 13 METER (15-amp) fuse in underdash fuse/relay box. Turn ignition off. Disconnect and ground Yellow/Green wire of coolant temperature gauge sender. Turn ignition on. Ensure temperature gauge pointer moves towards "H" of gauge.
CAUTION: Turn ignition off, before pointer reaches "H".
  2. If pointer does not move, check for open Yellow/Green wire. Repair as necessary. If circuits are okay, replace temperature gauge. If pointer moves towards "H", circuits are okay. Test temperature gauge sending unit. See TEMPERATURE GAUGE SENDING UNIT TEST.
