Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Test

  1. Turn ignition off. Remove rear seat cushion. Remove rear floor beam. Remove fuel tank access panel. Disconnect fuel gauge sending unit 3-pin connector. See Fig 1 . Remove 5 nuts to remove fuel gauge sending unit, and remove unit.
  2. Using DVOM, measure resistance between Yellow/Blue wire terminal 2 and Black wire terminal. With sending unit float in Empty (down) position. Reading should be 105-108 ohms. Hold sending unit at Half (middle) position, reading should be about 29-36 ohms. When in Full (up) position, reading should be 3.5-5 ohms. If resistance values are not as specified, replace fuel gauge sending unit.
