Fuel Reserve Warning Light
- Park vehicle on level ground. Drain fuel tank into an approved container. Add less than 3.0 gals. (11.5L) of fuel and turn ignition on. Low fuel warning light should come on within 3 minutes.
- If light does not come on, remove right maintenance access cover and disconnect fuel gauge sending unit connector. Connect jumper to Green/Red terminal to Black terminal.
- If light comes on, check fuel tank sending unit or ground. If light did not come on, check Green/Red wire to fuel gauge, no power to gauge or a bad indicator bulb. See Fig 1
.
- If light comes on, add fuel so total fuel will be more than 3 gals. (11.5L) and ensure that warning light goes off. If light does not go off, check for short circuit in wire harness or in printed circuit. If there is no short circuit, replace sending unit. If light goes off, test results are normal.
- Using ohmmeter, check resistance of fuel tank sending unit at proper locations. See Fig 1
. Replace if not within specification.
