Fuel Reserve Warning Light

  1. Park vehicle on level ground. Drain fuel tank into an approved container. Add less than 2.6 gallons (10L) of fuel and turn ignition switch on. Low fuel warning light should come on within 3 minutes.
  2. If light does not come on, remove gauge from instrument cluster and check bulb. Replace if necessary and retest. If bulb is good, but does not come on, or illuminates dimly, check circuit between gauge and tank.
  3. If light comes on, add fuel so total fuel will be more than 3 gallons (11.5L) and ensure that warning light goes off. If light does not go off, check for short circuit in wire harness or in printed circuit. If there is no short circuit, replace sending unit. If light goes off, turn key off; test is complete.
