Inspection (Accord & Prelude)
- Before removing shift arm holder from transaxle housing, measure the clearances between collar and shim on shaft of selector arm. Also check shift arm-to-shift guide clearance and selector arm-to-interlock clearance. See Fig 1 .
- Compare values to those listed in SHIFT ARM HOLDER SPECIFICATIONS (ACCORD & PRELUDE)

Check shift arm-to-shift rod guide clearance. If worn beyond limit, measure width of slot in shift rod guide. Replace shift rod guide if slot is wider than standard.
- Check selector arm-to-shift rod guide clearance. If not within limits, measure width of tab on selector arm. Replace arm if tab is narrower than standard.
