Removal & Installation: Engine: Installation

  1. Install engine in reverse order of removal. When replacing axles, insert driveshaft until spring clip "clicks" into groove in differential side gear.
    NOTE: Always use new spring clips when installing driveshafts.
  2. Make sure all wires and hoses are connected properly. Be sure oil cooler hoses are not interchanged during installation. Check that control cables have not been bent or pinched, and that all cables are adjusted properly.
  3. When installing speedometer cable, align tab on cable with slot in holder. Install clip so bent leg is on groove side. Pull lightly on cable to make sure it is secure. Readjust clutch pedal free play, and make sure transmission shifts smoothly.
  4. Prior to installing, apply sealant to coolant drain plug and a new washer on engine oil drain plug. Restore all fluids to proper levels. Open heater valve and unscrew bleed bolt to bleed air from cooling system.
