Piston Pin Replacement: Installation
Assemble connecting rod to piston so that oil hole in rod and correct round marking on piston head (triangular mark on 1.75L pistons) are on same side. See Fig 1 . Lightly lubricate new piston pin with engine oil. Using piston pin installation tool set (07973-6570002), press new pin into piston and connecting rod until pin is centered in rod.
NOTE:
For 1.3L and 1.5L engines, adjust piston pin driver tool (07973-6570201), until lower shoulder of tool is aligned with reference mark for engine. Reference distance for 1.3L engine is 2.13" (54 mm) from end; 2.20" (56 mm) for 1.5L engine.
NOTE:
Oil hole in connecting rod allows lubrication to thrust side of cylinder wall and piston.
