Piston & Rod Assembly: Installation

  1. Lubricate piston, rings and cylinder bore with engine oil. Install piston rings and properly space end gaps on piston. See Figure .
  2. Install piston and rod into cylinder bore. When properly installed, round mark on piston head (triangular mark on 1.75L pistons) and oil hole in connecting rod will be positioned toward intake manifold side. See Figure . Install and tighten rod cap.
