Removal & Disassembly

  1. To remove oil pump from 1.8L engine, drain engine oil and remove oil pump drive pulley nut and pulley. Remove 3 bolts and 1 nut holding pump to engine block. Remove oil pump. Remove 2 screws holding cover to pump body and separate.
  2. For all others, remove oil pan and oil pump assembly from engine. Remove bolts securing pump cover to pump body.
  3. Before removing pump cover, note oil pumps on some models equipped with automatic transaxle have 2 sets of pump rotors. On all models, mark installed position(s) of rotors to ensure installation in their original rotor-to-rotor relation.
  4. Disassemble oil pump. To remove relief valve and related components, remove cotter pin from pump cover (or relief valve body). See Fig 1 .
    NOTE: 1.3L & 1.5L are similar to manual transaxle type.
    NOTE: Front-mounted pump is operated by timing belt.
