Rear Brake Shoes: Removal
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel and tire and brake drum. Remove retaining springs and pins, self-adjuster spring and return springs (note original position of return springs). See Fig 1 and Figure .
- Remove primary brake shoe. Disconnect and remove secondary brake shoe from parking brake lever assembly.
- Standard rear brake lining thickness is .18" (4.5 mm). Service limit is .08" (2 mm).
NOTE:
Inspect brake shoes for distortion, looseness, nicks, burrs or oil-soaked linings. Repair or replace as necessary.
