Master Cylinder: Disassembly

Remove master cylinder and clamp into vise. Remove reservoir cap assembly and drain brake fluid. Loosen retaining clamp and remove reservoir.
On Civic models, remove snap ring. Press in on secondary piston assembly, and remove stop bolt. Cover open end of master cylinder with a clean rag.
On Accord and Prelude models, remove outer snap ring. Remove washer, secondary cups and secondary piston bushing.
Press in on secondary piston assembly, remove stop bolt and inner snap ring.
On all models, place finger over stop bolt hole and secondary outlet port. Remove pistons by applying 30 psi (2.1 kg/cm² ) air pressure to primary port. See Figure .
Piston assemblies must be replaced as complete units if disassembled.
