Transmission End & Torque Converter Housing: Disassembly

  1. If seals are to be replaced or if differential needs repair, lift differential out of torque converter housing. Remove differential seal snap ring and drive seal out.
  2. On end cover, remove snap rings to 1st and 3rd clutch feed pipes. Remove feed pipes with collars, then remove pins and collars from feed pipes. See Fig 1.
  3. On torque converter housing, remove snap ring. Drive in oil seals and bearings from mainshaft and countershaft. On transmission housing, expand snap rings (do not remove) and push bearings out by hand. Push out idler gear shaft and bearing from inside transmission housing then remove idler gear. See Fig 1.
